Hey everybody, Seaslak here. We cannot wait to be with you again on Friday, September 11th for our album release show, joined by The Mighty Sequoyah & Warm October. Huge thanks to Corey Fox for hosting us back at Velour. It feels like coming home when we get a chance to play there—we were “born” as a band at Velour. So many of our friends and loved ones came out to support our very first show, which we played under a different name (if any of you remember that name, 5 gold stars & bonus points for you). After that, we were shocked and awed when so many of you asked us “when’s the next gig?”—so we decided to enter Velour’s summer Battle of the Bands, where we made our debut as Seaslak.

That was June 2022. Now, a few singles, an EP, and dozens of shows later, we’re finally releasing our first album on September 11th.

And we decided to do it all ourselves. Typically, when working with a reputable producer or engineer, a single song can cost upwards of $1,000–$1,500, or more. By doing it ourselves, we were able to work on our own timeframe, on our own terms, and make something that was truly ours. Our resident guitar wizard Sam has metamorphosed into our mixing / mastering / engineering / producing master over the last few years, and he’s made music his full-time occupation. His talent comes second only to the immense amount of love, time, and attention he’s poured into these songs. This album wouldn’t have come to life without him. We pay Sam for his role as an engineer and producer, and he charges a lot less than what we’d be paying at a typical studio. That said, it has taken a lot of time and effort to make this album, and the compensation Sam receives is how he helps provide for his family.

That’s where you come in. We would love nothing more than to spend more of our time and money making music. This is a passion for all of us, but it isn’t free. If you’d like to contribute to the funding of this and future albums, we’d like to give you the opportunity. Every dollar goes directly to the funding of this album and the creation of new music.

Above all else, we’re beyond excited to celebrate the album with you on Sept. 11th.
